Unbelievable. Someone managed to steal one of our tapes and leak the footage online. The tape itself contains only leftover footage from the cutting room floor. It exposes the ugly side of Take Zer0, and the hurdles we go through to shoot an episode. We may as well post this embarrassing footage, just to confront the inevitable. You can’t stop the internet.
Today’s lesson is this: there’s usually a lot more going on behind the scenes of a movie. In an industry full of stress and overwork, “movie magic” results from what the editor chooses to leave out.

That sucks that someone stole your tape
I really like the honesty in this video. Hope everything was resolved.
There was a comment about using miniDV tapes only once, why is that? I generally reuse tape until I start seeing artifacts. Since it’s digital, there’s really no reason why you can’t use the tape again. Or am I missing something?

Hey Penguin, we were actually kidding about our tape being stolen, hehe. We’re pretending to act in this episode.
And you actually can reuse a Mini-DV tape, but over time it degrades the quality.

heh…’pretending to act’
i read once that you should re-use miniDV tapes about 6-8 times only. I usually never re use them because then i have a stockpile of footage that grows and i can always go back an re-use some other footage.
